If you intend to work with x video then Power Director is not for you. Power Director basically uses 2 formats and When you import x video it is converted to x When you try to export video then Power Director’s limitations really stand-out.
Many codecs are available, but only a few “profiles”, for each codec, are provided. When I finally exported the video it was in x format, not x I recently purchased a Kodak Zi8. When I try to drag the Zi8 videos to Power Director’s timeline, it crashes, every time. I am still waiting for a response from Cyberlink, on my support request for this issue.
For projects, the AVI codec is not even available. No AVI output means that you cannot export your videos to other applications. Selecting the DivX codec caused Power Director to crash.
There are just too many bugs to list here. This product is poorly designed, especially when exporting video using “Produce”. The settings for various file types are quite limited. It doesn’t even create high quality videos for YouTube.
I had to convert my videos using other applications, to get better quality on YouTube. I really like the way this program works, it’s just intuitive, and you do not need to be an expert to be able to get good results.

When trying to capture video from a VHS the software displays a message ssaying the movie is copyrighted – even though the VHS tape is a stor bought blank with personal video on it.
It makes no sense whatsoever. Also, when trying to add chapter points in a video file when I can record one – or when I use another software program to capture the video the software will add the chapter points but when I go out to write the file to disk the chapter points are gone. They don’t show up when prepping the dic for burning.
I feel I wasted my money on this software. The program freezes after downloading the first 4 video clips and the tape has clips on it. If I could get over this barrier, I would hope the software would work well but I can’t even get started. The technical support desk are rubbish. Don’t buy it unless you have lots of spare time and even more patience. This review exactly sums up my experiences. I should have paid attention to the reviews.

There are many pre-made templates to make life easy for adding text or effects. Most created disks play in my DVD player but some fail and cannot be read. I am still a rookie with this software. Lockups and failures are few, video editing software glitches seem to heal themselves given time. Saving and restarting can help. Once a video file became corrupt and I just cut that segment away and all was well. For me and many people I talked to, Roxio is too unreliable and prone to lockups, failures and lost data.

Since installin git now today norton is trying to do a virus scan when i do not have Norton installed on my computer. I hate Norton! I am more interested in other virus scan companies.. It’s all dodgy since i put this in my computer, but it’s all good, This computer is getting burned soon anyways as it has given me its fair share of nonsense anyways.

I had been wondering about upgrading my Pinnacle studio I have been using it now for a few weeks and am fairly happy with the results. I make videos in my spare time for various charities and so did not need any flashy add ons for my documantary-style films.
I was attracted by the large number of PiP tracks that would enable me to combine video clips in a better way than with Studio. I also felt that being able to create and move objects around the screen would give an advantage over studio.
Additionally I wanted better customisation over my title tracks. Powerdirector proved to be very good for these features. So far I have not found an easy way to substitute a section from a video clip ,while leaving in the audio. It does not seem possible to lock the audio and video on a track independently.
